Over the past two decades, social democratic parties have lost key elements of their political program, as welfare states are established and the value of state intervention has been called into question. They face electoral realignment and new competitors on the right for working class support.
This workshop will assess the recent accomplishments of European social democracy, the electoral challenges it faces, and ask how its mission might be redefined in the coming years.
